Vintage Navajo sterling silver squash blossom necklace with 15 stunning blue turquoise cabochons.
The cabochons are rub over set, surrounded with a silver rope and a satellite of little repousse silver beads. The side blossoms are attached to the necklace by a 1/4" silver tab and are comprised of a blossom mounted on a 1/2 bead with a long graceful, 4-lobed fluted silver petal beneath. The 4 fluted design was commonly used before the 1950's and are considered a sign of an mid to early 20th century piece.
The naja is a double crescent of heavy gauge, hand stamped silver bands with 3 cabochons: 2 on the ends, and one in the centre.
The handmade silver beads are strung on a metal wire that fastens with a traditional hook-and-eye clasp.
Beautiful patina to the piece, sympathetically cleaned to retain characteristics of it's age.
Stamped by the Bell Trading Company on the back of the naja, the style of stamp indicates it was made pre 1972, most likely mid century. The 3-1/2" extender chain provides a slightly lower drop.
