The Makara is a sea creature from Hindu Mythology, that is half terrestrial and half aquatic. The main part of the creature usually features parts of an elephant, crocodile or deer where as the second half depicts a fish, like a serpent's tail. Wearing a `Makara` bangle was supposed to protect and bring good luck.
